Why are they called “Slappa’s Thongs”?

When founder Denise Dunn was first rolling the product out in 2010 she asked all her family and friends to come up with and vote on a name; "Slappa's Thongs" was one of the suggestions and everyone laughed but at the same time… loved it! The name has stuck, and the thongs have been known as "Slappa's" ever since.

Where are Slappa’s thongs made?

Slappa's Thongs are made in China as Australia has no manufacturers that are capable of closed cell foam injection. Slappa's Thongs are committed to ensuring that all our thongs are made to high standards and meet all Australian requirements. We visit our manufacturers on a regular basis to ensure quality standards of production and human rights are being met.

Is Slappa’s thongs an Australian company?

Yes! Slappa's are proudly owned and operated in Australia with our headquarters in Darwin. We're a family run business that started at the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets in 2010.

How are Slappa’s Thongs made?

Slappa's are made using a process called 'Closed Cell Foam Injection'. During this process, EVA foam is injected into closed cell moulds. This means that each thong is a single solid piece with no plug to pull out or seams to rub your foot wrong. It is also what gives every pair of Slappa's Thongs its own unique and individual look.

What are Slappa’s Thongs made of?

Slappa's Thongs are made of a foam called EVA or Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. This is actually the same material mouthguards are made out of which is why they mould and protect your feet so well.
